ALLEN PARAK, Mich. (AP) - State police say two people were killed in a single car crash on Interstate 94 west of Detroit.

They say I-94 in Allen Park was “clear and dry” when the car struck a guardrail about 3:50 a.m. Sunday.

Lt. Michael Shaw says the crash had “nothing to do with weather.” Snow that hit later Sunday morning has caused numerous crashes and expressway closings in southeastern Michigan.

Shaw says the car was westbound on the expressway with three people aboard when the driver lost control, left the roadway and struck a guardrail broadside. He says the driver and a front seat passenger were killed and a back seat passenger was taken to Oakwood Hospital for treatment.

State police are withholding the victims’ identities until after their families are notified.
