CLIVE, Iowa (AP) - A former Clive chiropractor has surrendered his state license to settle allegations that he sent sexually explicit text messages to a teenage patient, among other things.

The Des Moines Register reports (https://dmreg.co/1ayaO14) that documents released Friday show Cameron Hart, 56, agreed earlier this month to give up his license.

The Iowa Board of Chiropractic also accused Hart of giving the patient marijuana and alcohol.

Hart’s lawyer said Friday that he denies all the allegations, but agreed to surrender his license to avoid any additional stress or expense, because he had already planned to retire at the end of 2013.

No criminal charges were filed. The settlement with the chiropractic board says he may not seek reinstatement of his license for at least a year.
