LEWISTON, N.Y. (AP) - Three western New York bridges will undergo $41 million in repairs sooner rather than later under a state law designed to speed construction schedules and reduce costs.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s office on Friday said the bridges slated for rehabilitation are in Niagara County on Interstate-190 and state Route 265.
A 2011 law now allows for design and construction to be combined into a single contract. Cuomo is calling for the law to be renewed, rather than expire at the end of this year. He says without it, the western New York projects wouldn’t have started for another two years.
Most of the bridge work will be done at night to minimize traffic disruptions.
