COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - It’s very cold in South Carolina.

Temperatures on Friday didn’t rise above freezing in much of the state. The high in Greenville was 31 degrees, while the high in Columbia made it up to just 33. Charleston reported a high of 37.

Lows on Friday dipped into the teens in many places.

In central and southern South Carolina, forecasters are warning of the risk of wildfires because of low humidity and winds.

Temperatures will warm some this weekend, but forecasters say the bitter cold will return Tuesday. They also are hinting there could be a chance of snow in much of the eastern part of the state if conditions are just right.
