FOREST, Va. (AP) - Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest is using a federal grant to help the museum conduct research and interpretive planning.

The plantation has received a $79,000 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Officials say the grant will help develop a comprehensive plan to make the Poplar Forest plantation more physically and intellectually accessible and more impactful to a broader audience.

Poplar Forest was former President Thomas Jefferson’s personal retreat in Bedford County.
