ATHENS, N.Y. (AP) - New York State Police are looking for a driver who didn’t stop after striking a tow truck operator on the New York State Thruway.

Troopers say 21-year-old tow truck driver John Hanzl of Palenville stopped on the southbound shoulder near exit 21 south of Albany at about 7 p.m. Thursday to assist a stalled vehicle and was struck while walking to the vehicle. Hanzl was taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

State police are looking for an older black Toyota Tundra pick-up truck with a dented and rusted back end, and a possible broken tail light.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Troop T Communications at 1-800-842-2233.
