MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A north Alabama woman with a successful career in farming is the newest member of the Alabama Ethics Commission.

Lt. Gov. Kay Ivey nominated Larkin Martin of Courtland for the spot, and the Alabama Senate approved her selection Thursday.

Martin is the manager of two family-owned farms, Martin Farm and the Albemarle Corp. in Courtland. She is the past chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and served as chairman and director of the Cotton Board. She currently serves on the Farm Foundation board.

The lieutenant governor said Martin’s work ethic will make her a valuable addition to the Ethics Commission.

Martin’s term begins immediately and runs through August 2018.
