MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) - A Summerville man has been sentenced to three years in prison for the death of another man in a bar in Berkeley County more than two years ago.
Twenty-eight-year-old Justin Johnson also must serve five years of probation after his prison sentence.
Johnson pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter Wednesday in Moncks Corner in the 2011 death of 35-year-old Edward Duttine of Summerville.
Johnson and Jonathan Powell of Ladson were initially charged with voluntary manslaughter. Powell pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter last month and also was sentenced to three years in prison and five years of probation.
Sheriff’s deputies say Duttine got into a scuffle with Johnson and Powell. Deputies say Duttine threw the first punch. Deputies say Powell hit Duttine once and he fell .He died a short time later.
