NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals missed his second straight game with a lower-body injury.
The Capitals scratched the NHL’s leading goal scorer for Friday night’s game against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center. The Russian star, who has 35 goals, also missed Tuesday’s game against Ottawa after being injured Sunday in a loss to the New York Rangers.
The Capitals saw their losing streak extended to six games after being shut out by the Senators 2-0. They have scored seven goals in the slide, three by Ovechkin.
