ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown has reached out to his opponents in the Democratic primary for governor to begin discussions about a public debate schedule.
Brown sent a letter on Friday to Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler and Del. Heather Mizeur.
Brown is proposing a total of five debates. Three of them would be between the candidates for governor, and two of them would be between the lieutenant governor candidates.
Brown also is proposing that that Washington Metropolitan and Baltimore Metropolitan regions would each host a debate. He says the other three debates could be held in western Maryland, southern Maryland and the Eastern Shore.
Brown says he hopes the campaigns will come together in the next few weeks to agree on a debate schedule.
The primary is June 24.
