MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Gov. Scott Walker has called a special session of the Legislature to consider his half-billion dollar property and income tax plan.
Walker announced the special session on Thursday, the day after he detailed his plan during his State of the State speech.
Walker is also calling for spending an additional $35 million on job training programs and doing more to find jobs for people with learning disabilities.
The tax cut plan includes a $406 million property tax reduction and a $98 million income tax cut. Those must be passed by the Republican-controlled Legislature and signed by Walker before taking effect.
Walker has already ordered the state Department of Revenue to update income tax withholding to put more money into people’s paychecks starting in April.
