SELMA, Ala. (AP) - The State Board of Education is expected to vote on whether to intervene in the Selma City School System.

WAKA-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1eEGiAN) that Alabama Superintendent of Education Tommy Bice on Wednesday met with Selma school officials to discuss the matter.

In a letter to Selma Superintendent Gerald Shirley, Bice said the purpose of the meeting was to share his reasons for the notice of proposed intervention — and what he expects moving forward.

A corrective action plan was submitted to the state by Selma City Schools in response to a state investigation that uncovered several issues in the school system.

The state board is set to meet next on Feb. 12.
