SOUTH HERO, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say driver who was found dead in a crash in South Hero died of heart disease.

Police say pickup driver 63-year-old Daniel Harris of South Hero rear-ended a car before traveling over 250 feet down an embankment on Tuesday night.

Police said Harris had been traveling north on Route 2 when his vehicle for unknown reasons rear-ended the car as it was turning left. Harris’ car left the road and went through a grassy area into a patch of low-hanging trees.

The car driver, 57-year-old Dawn Bugbee of Colchester, was not hurt.

Police said Thursday that the office of the chief medical examiner has determined that Harris died of heart disease and not a direct result of the crash.
