OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma State Department of Health says the number of people who have died due to the flu in Oklahoma rose by eight this week to 20.

The department on Thursday reported four deaths in Tulsa County, three in Comanche County and two in Muskogee County. Single deaths were reported in Carter; Cleveland; Kay; Le Flore; McClain; McIntosh; Oklahoma; Okmulgee; Osage; Pittsburg; and Seminole counties.

The health department reported more than 500 hospitalizations in the state because of the flu since the start of the flu season in late September.

The department says two victims were younger than four, six were between the ages of 18 and 49, six were between 50 and 64 years old and the final six were 65 or older.
