HASTINGS, Minn. (AP) - A grand jury has indicted a 25-year-old man on murder charges in the death of his girlfriend’s 4-year-old son in Burnsville last year.

William Warr of Hopkins was indicted in Dakota County on charges of first- and second-degree murder.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press (https://bit.ly/1atE5tC ) reports Warr wasn’t supposed to be seeing the woman because of a protection order against him.

The child, Key’ontay Miller Peterson, was found dead in an apartment June 11 after police and paramedics responded to a call that he wasn’t breathing.

The Hennepin County medical examiner’s office found the boy died from blunt-force injuries. An autopsy found he had bruises and eight broken ribs from at least two different occasions.

Warr is being held on $1 million bail. His next court appearance is April 29.
