FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - A project to study star clusters at Lowell Observatory is getting a boost from the National Science Foundation.

The foundation has awarded more than $630,000 to the observatory in northern Arizona. Researchers are looking at star clusters to trace the Milky Way Galaxy’s chemical evolution and history of star formation.

U.S. Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick announced the research grant this week.
