SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - The Caddo Sheriff’s Office is looking for persons interested in becoming a reserve deputy.

Reserve deputies are volunteers who complete state-required training similar to the training of full-time sheriff’s deputies. They are used to supplement full-time law enforcement officers and are qualified to carry a weapon and make arrests.

Training for the next Reserve Academy is scheduled to begin in the spring.

Applicants are subject to the same strict hiring standards as paid employees, be at least 21 years old and have no criminal record.

Persons interested in applying should contact the Personnel Division of the Caddo Sheriff’s Office at 318-681-0812. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14.
