BALTIMORE (AP) - Democratic Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger, who had been considering a run for governor, says he will seek re-election to Congress.

Ruppersberger, who has represented Maryland’s second district since 2003, said in a statement Wednesday that he will file as a candidate for re-election to the House in 2014.

He says he wants continue working on bipartisan compromises on tax and entitlement reform. Ruppersberger also thanked those who encouraged him to run for governor.

Ruppersberger is ranking member of the Intelligence Committee. He formerly was Baltimore County executive.

Maryland’s second district includes parts of Baltimore city and parts of Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Harford and Howard counties.
