WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - The first West Lafayette police officer to respond to a deadly shooting at Purdue University says he found the suspected gunman kneeling near the curb with his hands on his head.
Officer Kevin Coomey tells WRTV in Indianapolis (https://bit.ly/1g1Et4I ) that suspect Cody Cousins was staring straight ahead when he arrived at the electrical engineering building Tuesday after receiving reports of shots fired.
Coomey says he saw blood on Cousins’ hands after he ordered the suspect to the ground.
Cousins faces a preliminary murder charge in the death of 21-year-old Purdue student Andrew Boldt of West Bend, Wis. Cousins’ initial hearing is scheduled for Thursday at the Tippecanoe County Jail.
