NEW YORK (AP) - Mayor Bill de Blasio says keeping the schools open after the snowstorm was “the right thing to do.”
De Blasio said Wednesday that his own son was hoping for a snow day.
But he says New York City only closes its public schools when it’s “absolutely necessary.”
Some parents have complained that they got short notice about the decision.
The mayor says a call from the National Weather Service around 10 p.m. Tuesday made it clear that the snowfall was slowing and buses could run in the morning.
