LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Las Cruces’ school board wants students to have an alternate path to graduate from high school without having to pass the state standardized test.
The Las Cruces Sun-News (https://bit.ly/1fZIve2 ) reports that the alternate is intended to allow students to get a diploma even if they fail sections of the state test.
The alternative approved unanimously by the Las Cruces school board Tuesday night is based on a combination of criteria.
Those criteria include grade point averages, final exam grades, portfolios and work and extracurricular experience.
