Forget that aspirin bottle and never mind the Bloody Mary. A new medical treatment for the drunk and hungover is taking New York by storm, and it’s called an IV drip, to be administered by a doctor who makes emergency house calls.
It only costs a couple of hundred dollars per cure, The New York Post reported.
“We’ve had patients tell us they feel better instantly,” said AJ Klein, a spokesman for The I.V. Doctor, a new company that delivers a “miracle elixir” to Manhattan and Brooklyn households with the hungover, via a personal visit and professionally administered intravenous hook-up.
“If you’ve had one too many drinks,” he said, in The New York Post, “we’re an easy call and we’ll hook you up.”
The house call takes about 45 minutes to complete. The solution that’s credited with providing quick relief from the after-effects of an alcoholic-induced daze is made of sodium chloride, potassium and an anti-nausea medication, the company said. Patients can also request add-ins like B12 to help boost energy and anti-inflammatory meds to help with pain. It’s all administered by tube, to the tune of “the equivalent of a gallon of water,” the company said, The New York Post reported.
The service — headed up by a licensed urologist — costs between $199 and $249.
Most clients are proving to be wealthy men from Manhattan who want it all — a night filled with boozy parties but the ability to function well for the next day’s early call for work.
“It’s a lot of 40-year-old guys, businessmen and bankers,” Mr. Klein said, in The New York Post. “It’s a luxury.”
