BENTON, Ark. (AP) - The Central Arkansas Development Council is taking applications to help low-income families pay heating bills through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

The CADC helps residents in 12 counties with heating bills and accepts applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications are being taken in Calhoun; Clark; Columbia; Dallas; Hot Spring; Lonoke; Montgomery; Ouachita; Pike; Pulaski; Saline; and Union counties.

Applicants need proof of income for all household members 18 years or older; proof of child support; proof of unemployment for household members 18 years old and older; proof of social security, retirement, pensions, workman’s comp or disability. Also needed are proof of utility allowance and, if no income, proof of how bills are being paid.

Social security numbers and birthdates for all household members are also required.
