LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has vetoed a bill that would have made changes to Michigan’s corporate officer liability law, but he’s on board with a similar bill moving toward his desk.
The governor on Tuesday vetoed a measure he said would have offered “many useful updates” to the law governing the personal liability of officers and partners for unpaid state taxes.
He says a bill that passed the Senate unanimously Tuesday “provides a better solution to these issues,” but declined to elaborate further.
Republican Sen. Jack Brandenburg of Macomb County’s Harrison Township sponsored the vetoed measure and the newer legislation.
The vetoed bill would have restricted who the state Treasury Department could go after for unpaid taxes. The newer bill will reach Snyder soon.
