Sen. Mike Lee will give the tea party response to President Obama’s State of the Union address, the Tea Party Express announced on Tuesday.

The conservative Utah senator will speak immediately after the selected Republican — as yet unnamed — gives his or her response, Politico reported. The State of the Union is scheduled for next Tuesday.

The Tea Party Express started giving responses to the SOTU in 2011 — first by Rep. Michele Bachmann, then by Sen. Rand Paul.

Mr. Lee joined forces with another tea party darling, Sen. Ted Cruz, to stand up to the Democratic Party over a government shutdown that stemmed from a budget impasse, mostly over Obamacare.
