President Obama will meet with Pope Francis at the Vatican in late March, the White House announced Tuesday.
Mr. Obama, who has spoken of his admiration of the new pope, will meet with the pontiff on March 27 during a four-day trip to the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy. The White House said they will discuss “their shared commitment to fighting poverty and growing inequality.”
The president also will participate in a U.S.-European Union summit in Brussels and meet with NATO officials. On March 24-25, he will attend a nuclear security summit in the Netherlands.
