SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - No. 2 Notre Dame’s leading scorer Jewell Loyd has a sprained right knee and is listed as day-to-day.

Coach Muffet McGraw said earlier Tuesday that Loyd, who is averaging 16.9 points and 6.1 rebounds a game, likely would miss Thursday’s game when the Fighting Irish (17-0, 4-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) play Miami (11-7, 3-2 ACC), but that was before Loyd had been seen by a doctor. Team spokesman Chris Masters said Loyd’s status was upgraded to day-to-day after seeing the doctor.

Loyd had twisted her ankle when a Tennessee player stepped on her foot as she ran during Notre Dame’s 86-70 victory Monday night, but McGraw said the injury was to her knee.

The Irish play at sixth-ranked Maryland on Monday.
