BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - LSU coach Les Miles says former Virginia Tech assistant Jeff Grimes has now joined the Tigers’ staff as the new offensive line coach.
Grimes verbally agreed to take the job last week, but Miles did not announce the hiring until Tuesday afternoon, after Grimes had a contract.
Grimes has spent one season as offensive line coach at Virginia Tech. The same position opened up at LSU after Greg Studrawa left in early January.
Grimes has experience recruiting in the Southeastern Conference, having coached the offensive line at Auburn from 2009-12.
Miles says Grimes has “a track record of putting guys in the NFL and producing outstanding offensive linemen.”
A former offensive tackle at UTEP, Grimes has spent two decades in coaching, including at Boise State, Arizona State, BYU and Colorado.
