VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - A card room that operated for 16 years in La Center, Chips Casino, closed its doors Monday.

The Columbian reports (https://bit.ly/1f3JLd3) the owner, Lakewood-based Michel’s Development, continues to operate the Palace Casino, which shares a parking lot and employees at the same location.

A spokesman for La Center card rooms, John Bockmier, says revenue has been flat and they are facing higher expenses from the minimum wage raise, health care costs and city sewer fees.
