TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Pima County Board of Supervisors has appointed Democratic state Rep. Andra Dalessandro of Green Valley to fill the state Senate vacancy created by the resignation of Tucson Democrat Linda Lopez.
Dalassandro was among three people nominated by District 2 Democratic party activists to serve out Lopez’s two-year term.
Dalessandro is a first-term legislator.
Her appointment to the Senate seat will create a vacancy in the House. The appointment process will begin once House Speaker Andy Tobin notifies Secretary of State Ken Bennett that there’s a vacancy in the House.
