BOSTON (AP) - Paige Sutherland, a reporter with experience in Washington, Boston and South Africa, has been hired by The Associated Press to help cover breaking news and generate enterprise in Massachusetts.

The announcement was made Tuesday by East Region Editor Karen Testa and New England News Editor Cara Rubinsky.

Sutherland is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism’s graduate program. Her time there included stint at the Weekend Argus in Cape Town, South Africa, and covering national security in Washington. She is a College of the Holy Cross graduate who interned at WBZ and WHDH in Boston.

Her work at Medill appeared in the Military Times and on the website of The Atlantic, among other outlets. Her temporary assignment with AP began Tuesday.
