The much-disgraced former N.Y. congressman and city mayoral hopeful Anthony Weiner is ditching his $12,000-per-month ritzy Park Avenue South apartment and searching out a cheaper place.

He and his wife, Huma Abedin — a high-placed aide to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — were seen checking out apartments in the Gramercy area, east of the $3.3 million, four-bedroom rental they now use, The New York Post reported. Their current digs are owned by Bill Clinton friend, Democratic Party donor Jack Rosen.

“Their lease is up in a couple of months, so they are looking at apartments,” one source told The New York Post.

Mr. Weiner’s political career plummeted during the past year over a nationally watched sexting scandal that continued to haunt his New York City mayoral campaign.

The couple is now checking out more modest places to rent. Their latest viewing including a three-bedroom, 2½-bathroom unit on East 23rd St., a location near Second Avenue that’s been dubbed Gramercy Starck, said Citi Habitats broker Brian Morgan, in The New York Post. The apartment is considerably cheaper: It rents for $8,000 a month.
