AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine Sen. Angus King is raising concerns about the safety of next month’s Olympics in Russia.
The independent senator said Sunday that he wouldn’t go to the games and doesn’t think he would send his family.
King spoke about the Sochi Winter Games on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
The games run from Feb. 7 to 23.
Russian President Vladimir Putin says the country will do all it can to ensure a safe Olympics without imposing security measures that are too intrusive.
Last month’s suicide bombings about 400 miles from the location of the Sochi Olympics have led to increased anxiety about the games’ safety.
