COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Soldiers from Fort Bragg in North Carolina are coming to Richland County to help deputies with training exercises.
The sheriff’s office says blanks will be used, so the training may be noisy at times Monday and Tuesday. Deputies will train mostly in the eastern part of the county.
Sheriff Leon Lott says the training is important to make sure deputies can be prepared for anything that might happen in Columbia. Authorities did not specify what the training exercises will be about.
Fort Bragg is home to a number of the U.S. Army’s elite fighting groups.
