TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The National Weather Service in Tulsa says fire danger will be high throughout the northeastern part of Oklahoma.

The fire weather alert was issued Monday for nine counties.

The weather service says winds will gust to about 25 mph Monday afternoon. The gusts are expected combine with relative humidity values between 25 percent and 30 percent, resulting in an enhanced fire threat.

The service says the risk will be greatest for the area north and west of Interstate 44 in eastern Oklahoma.

Several grass fires broke out last week in central and eastern Oklahoma.
