NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Old Dominion University Police say a large disturbance near campus has led to the arrest of a cameraman for a company that films college party scenes and posts them online.
The Virginian-Pilot reports (https://bit.ly/1aFI8h9 ) that a sport utility vehicle was damaged during the Friday night incident, but no other damage was reported and nobody was injured.
The Norfolk Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Ben Fredette of Hillsdale, N.J., was being held in jail without bond Monday on a charge of conspiracy to incite a riot. Fredette works for “I’m Schmacked,” which runs a popular website and does online video documentaries of college nightlife.
Company founder Arya Toufanian said in an email that his employees do not advocate or participate in rioting or vandalism, and Fredette was acting as a college journalist.
