A Chicago woman took to the “Today” show on Thursday with a message for the godmother of Sasha and Malia Obama: I’ve got your Christmas present.

That’s because the gift was inadvertently delivered to her uncle’s door.

Specifically, Alane Church said on the NBC television broadcast that her family got a package from their uncle a week after Christmas, and that it was opened and in disarray. But it seems to have been intended for Mama Kaye – the nickname the Obama girls gave to their godmother.

“Parts of the old box were in this toilet paper box that the post office repackaged,” she said, Politico reported. “In the bottom of the box was this extra gift. And we were reading the tag, trying to figure out, you know, where this came from, and it was opened. So we then discovered this was a very personal gift to Mama Kaye.”

The tag on the gift was addressed: “Mama Kaye and Papa Wellington,” from “Barack, Michelle and the girls.”

The gift was a homemade photo book with pictures of the Obama clan, including one of Malia on the cover, Ms. Church said, on the broadcast. She declined to open the book on air, saying she wanted to keep the photos inside for Obama family eyes only,

“We are sort of wanting to keep it private for Mama Kaye,” she said, Politico reported. “It’s very special, very special. Private moments of their year 2013 together.”

Ms. Church said her family is going to send the album to the proper recipient. The White House didn’t comment on the package mix-up.
