AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Gov. Paul LePage has signed a limited emergency proclamation as cold weather returns to Maine.

The governor says the proclamation allows fuel transport and delivery truck drivers to spend extra hours on the roads to ensure that no one is left in the cold. He said keeping homes warm “is critical to protect the public health and safety of Mainers.”

This is the third time the governor has signed such a proclamation this winter.

The proclamation suspending federal rules and extending hours for fuel truck drivers will be in effect for three weeks, starting on Sunday and continuing through Feb. 8.
