NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut’s U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro is stepping up pressure on congress to increase pay for Americans to promote economic opportunity and upward mobility.

DeLauro is scheduled to hold a series of events next week in which she is expected to argue that stagnating wages have largely contributed to income inequality.

On Tuesday, DeLauro is expected to be at united Way of Milford to discuss how low wages are the nation’s biggest economic challenge.

She is set to visit the Department of Labor CT WORKS Center in Hamden on Wednesday to discuss how Connecticut workers will be affected by the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a pact under negotiation with 11 other countries.

On Thursday, DeLauro will be at Vinal Technical High School in Middletown to discuss the necessity of training Connecticut’s workers for high-paying jobs.
