HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan is visiting Connecticut next week to highlight government efforts to make higher education more accessible.
Duncan is planning to visit University High School of Science and Engineering in Hartford on Tuesday for a meeting with students, college counselors and local elected officials.
The Education Department says officials including the governor and Connecticut’s two U.S. senators are expected to attend.
On a visit to Connecticut in May, Duncan described efforts to strengthen school security in the wake of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
