ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - The security guard for Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren has been suspended without pay for a week after being pulled over twice for speeding on the Thruway while driving her to and from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s State of the State speech.

In letter Thursday to the city’s deputy mayor, retired state trooper Reggie Hill apologizes for what he calls his “lack of judgment” for breaking Interstate 90’s 65 mph speed limit while driving Warren to and from Albany on Jan. 8.

Hill, who is Warren’s uncle, retired this month after 30 years with the state police and was hired as her security guard when she took office Jan. 1.

Hill’s letter confirmed that he had been stopped twice by troopers for speeding on Jan. 8. He wasn’t ticketed either time.
