COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The city of Columbia is kicking off its events planned to honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday.

Officials including City Councilwoman Tameika Isaac Devine and representatives from the NAACP are among those who are laying a wreath on Friday at the Stone of Hope in MLK park.

Members from several neighborhood associations in the area are also expected to be on hand for the events.
