NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - Jalen Cannon scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as St. Francis topped Central Connecticut State 76-66 on Thursday night.

St. Francis (11-7, 2-1 Northeast Conference) led for nearly the entire game, taking a 34-28 lead at half and closing the game on an 11-6 run to pull away.

Brent Jones made 3-pointers on two consecutive possessions, the second coming with 1:44 left, as St. Francis took a 71-62 lead. The Red Flash made 5 of 6 free throw attempts in the last 1:15 to preserve the win.

Central Connecticut State (4-12, 0-3) held a brief lead at 40-39 midway through the second half before St. Francis responded with a 7-0 run that included a three-point play from Cannon.

Anthony White and Jones each scored 12 for the Red Flash, and Jones also had 11 assists.

Faronte Drakeford led Central Connecticut State with 18 points while Malcolm McMillan had 14.
