NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Smithfield Foods is expanding its two-year-old marketing partnership with Richard Petty Motorsports to attract NASCAR fans.

The world’s largest pork producer based in Smithfield, Va., says Petty might appear in more ads and his likeness will continue to be used in store promotions.

CEO Larry Pope says Petty’s driver Aric Almirola also will continue meeting customers.

The Virginian-Pilot reports (https://bit.ly/1gMbVbO ) that Smithfield also said it will expand its sponsorship of Richard Petty Motorsports to 29 events during the upcoming NASCAR Spring Cup series.

The agreement extends Smithfield’s sponsorship of Petty’s team through 2016.
