DENVER (AP) - The Colorado Rockies have signed a one-year deal with left-handed pitcher Franklin Morales, avoiding arbitration.
The agreement was announced Wednesday. Terms weren’t released.
The Rockies acquired the 27-year-old Morales and right-hander Chris Martin from the Boston Red Sox in December in exchange for Jonathan Herrera.
Morales first signed with the Rockies in 2002 as a non-drafted free agent from Venezuela and played at Colorado from 2007 to 2011. He spent the last two season with Boston.
He was 2-2 with a 4.62 ERA in 20 appearances last year with the Red Sox, who won the World Series.
Morales’ career record is 13-18 with 11 saves and a 4.38 ERA. He has appeared in 195 games, including 25 starts.
