TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - When Tyler Smith appeared last November on the National Geographic Channel TV show “Doomsday Preppers,” he was shown loading and firing two guns on his Buckley, Wash., property.

Pierce County sheriff’s officers say the problem is that Smith is a convicted felon, which makes him ineligible to possess firearms.

The sheriff’s office said the 26-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for investigation of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer tells The News Tribune (https://is.gd/NfDLzm) that “reality TV crashed into reality.”

Troyer says officers “have video and pictures of him loading guns and firing them.”

Court records show Smith has a theft conviction.

He was arrested at his new home in Bonney Lake.

National Geographic said in a statement it was aware of the arrest.
