LONG HILL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - The search for a Wall Street Journal reporter who left his northern New Jersey home to go for a walk and disappeared has stretched into its sixth day.
Dozens of police officers, rescue workers and volunteers looked on Thursday in Long Hill Township for 55-year-old David Bird, missing since Saturday afternoon. Long Hill police Chief Michael Mazzeo says there’s no evidence of foul play.
Much of the search Thursday focused on an area around the Passaic River in the Morris County community.
The Wall Street Journal says Bird is a liver transplant recipient who takes medication twice a day. His wife, Nancy Bird, says he didn’t have the medication with him and could become ill without it.
The Journal says David Bird has worked for its publisher, Dow Jones & Co., for more than 20 years.
