MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Twenty-one members of the Vermont Army National Guard will be recognized for their service to Vermonters following Tropical Storm Irene.
They will receive the Vermont Humanitarian Service Medal during a performance by the 40th Army Band, Vermont Army National Guard, at the Statehouse Wednesday night.
The Guard says more than 700 members responded to the call to activation during Irene in 2011.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and will include the musical performance teams of the band, which include the Liberty Belles woodwind quintet, the Power of 10 rock/show band and the Green Mountain Show Band. The music is expected to range from classical to contemporary.
The concert is the opening of the Farmer’s Night Concert Series at the Statehouse.
