SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - The federal Transportation Security Administration is making it easier for frequent airline passengers in Northern California to qualify for expedited screening at airport security checkpoints.

The Sacramento Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1cnZJJZ) three enrollment centers for the “TSA pre-check” are opening their doors Wednesday in Sacramento, Stockton and Eureka.

The newspaper says passengers who qualify for expedited screening will not be required to take off their shoes, jackets or belts, or take their laptops out when they undergo security screenings.

U.S. citizens must agree to be fingerprinted and pay an $85 fee for five-year access to expedited security check lines.

The TSA began rolling out its enrollment centers last month, and officials say they plan eventually to have centers in more than 300 cities.
