WILTON, Maine (AP) - State police in Maine are investigating the stabbing of a woman whose car broke down on a remote road near the Wilton-Chesterville town line.

Spokesman Steve McCausland says the 33-year-old Readfield woman told troopers her car broke down Monday night on the McCrillis Corner Road and that a man in what appeared to be a white pickup truck stopped. She says the man assaulted her and she struggled with him before he fled.

McCausland says the woman was able to get her car started and drove herself to the hospital, where she was treated for a stab wound to her arm.

State police are seeking the public’s help in finding the suspect described as 5-foot-10 with a slender build and a goatee. He was wearing a mad bomber hat.
